Staying safe on Oksalo
Most people on Oksalo are straightforward. These habits protect you from the few who are not.
Meeting
Meet in a public place during daylight — a café, a mall, a busy street. For a car or a bike, a fuel station or a service centre works well because you can have it looked at on the spot.
Take someone with you for anything expensive, and tell a friend where you are going.
Paying
Never pay in advance. Not a deposit, not a booking fee, not a delivery charge. Inspect the item, then pay.
Be wary of anyone who cannot meet, claims to be posted abroad or in the army, or wants to use a courier or escrow service they suggest. These are the most common scam patterns on every marketplace.
Keep the conversation here
Talk through Oksalo rather than moving to another app immediately. If something goes wrong, the thread is a record of what was agreed. A seller who insists on moving the conversation before answering any question is worth being careful with.
Never share OTPs, bank details, UPI PINs or card numbers. No genuine buyer or seller needs them, and no Oksalo employee will ever ask.
Checking the item
For electronics, ask for the bill and check the IMEI or serial number. For vehicles, check the RC, insurance and service record against what the listing claims. For property, verify the title and approvals before any money moves.
If something looks wrong
Report the listing or the user from the page itself. Reports go to the moderation team, and listings that break the rules are removed.
